As much as I love WIC, I just can't for the life of me figure out how to use up all the canned tuna or beans they give me. Anyone have any ideas for the tuna besides plain old tuna fish sandwiches or tuna casserole? And the beans- all the bean recipes I ever find are for canned beans, not dried. How do I convert them, as far as cook time goes and all that?

TODAY I HAVE A WIC APPOINTMENT WITH MY 2 MONTH OLD. THIS IS THE 1ST TIME I AM APPLYING. WHAT SHOULD I EXPECT?
ALSO DO THEY GIVE SHOTS AT WIC? I WAS TRYING TO FIND A FREE OR LOW COST PLACE TO GET HER SHOTS DONE BECAUSE WE HAVE NO INSURANCE.

When your child turns two years old, does WIC disallow you from buying whole milk for them? I heard this was the case in NY...Anyone know about Washington state?

I have an appointment this Thursday. I know I will sound foolish, but I'm not entirely sure what WIC offers. I wasnt going to apply, but I just recently became a single mommy-to-be and I need any & all the help I can get. I make $9/hr, and I work 55+ hours a week. I'm not guaranteed that over time, I just take it when it's available now.. because I know I wont be able to in a few weeks. (I'm 25w3d pregnant with my first baby.)
What are some of the things WIC helps you out with? What can I expect to be asked at my appointment? Thank you in advance to any help.

i have a meeting with the WIC office on Tuesday. I was wondering, if me and my boyfriend get married, will we no longer be able to recieve WIC benefits?

has anyone gotten new checks w/ the new food benefits?
i'm in NY state - and got my checks for the next 3 months today : fruits and vegetables are added in! i received 2 $5.00 checks per month for me, and 2 $5.00 checks for my toddler each month. $20 of fruits and vegetables a month! i'm in heaven!
the lady i spoke with said that soon they will be adding bread, salmon and sardines as well.
soy milk is in the future - she has no idea. but the rest will all be added in 2008.

Is anyone in here from PA? How hard/easy was it for you to obtain WIC? I am 34 weeks pregnant and married. I live with my Husband in an apartment. I am getting fired from my job when I am no longer able to work or I have my baby, whichever comes 1st, since I have not been there for a year. I was hoping I would be able to apply, but I don't know the regulations on not working/not being fired yet. UrgH!
